My Great Experience/Memories with the Athletics

By Amaury Pi-González

Here in the fourth largest city in the

Bay Area, Fremont (over 200,000 residents)

they have been talking about building a

park for the A’S. The area is next to the

NUMMI Automotive plant(old General Motors

Plant)today NUMMI stands for New United

Motors International, a partnership

between General Motors and Toyota.

As far as I am concerned, that would be fine

with me. But, I am afraid that my fellow

citizens of Fremont are not to happy

because it would created much more

traffic congestion and Fremont has grown

faster enough. It is not like this is the

“woods”like it was 35 years ago.

Some call Fremont “Silicon Valley East”

because our development in the high

tech industry.

BART comes here and in the future is going

to San José, people are really not thinking

of bringing a Major League franchise to

this City. The Athletics should stay were

they belong, in Oakland. That is their

home since 1968. Oakland is a great city,

the great people that lives there. But

of course not their inept politicos.

Wild Streaking Ride

Well, I never … Oh my God … Absolutely it was … the most bizarre and wonderful game imaginable.

I feel privileged to have attended Wednesday’s record-breaking game between the A’s and the Kansas City Royals. Both sides played superbly and horribly. No one gave up, not the A’s in claiming their 20th straight win, nor the Royals, who came so close in their role as spoilers. Nothing was normal or predictable, as befits a never-before situation. And yet, it all fit the A’s perfectly. [Read more →]

Where are the A'S fans ?

A winning streak for the ages, but

where are the Oakland A’S fans?

On Labor Day, an inter-league

game between the Astros and Rangers

had 24,408 paid attendance, on that

same day, the hottest team on the planet

had 26,325 (and that was with

close to 10,000 tickets being sold

just prior to the game). [Read more →]

Off Year for Closers?

Depending on your perspective, the role and demands of a closer may be a piece of cake or a stressful, ulcer-causing task. Entering September it seems very rare for some of today’s big league closers to stop opposing hitters and save the game in a smooth and peaceful manner.

Read on about Dale’s views about closer’s (Thanks, Dale, from Marty Lurie)

What four teams will make the playoffs in the A.L.?

Yes, I was a Cory Lidle basher

Was it his “I’m going to do it my way.” demeanor? or his “I thought I pitched great” comments after being knocked out after clearly pitching poorly? Maybe it was his on-field display when showed up Art Howe after he took him out of the game against the Milwaukee this year. Or was it a subtle frustration in me when Art Howe gave him the pitching responsibility in game four of the ALDS against the yankees, in which he was ineffective?

Here are my thoughts on the new Lidle.

Is the A's offense enough to make third consecutive playoff appearance?

by dale

While most baseball fans get extremely excited when their team starts an inning with two runners on base, if you’re an A’s fan you have dealt with that all to familiar heart break when that hope is deferred.

Proverbs says, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick” and no one can legitimize that statement more than Art Howe and many A’s fans, as the A’s offense continues to struggle with what I call the “R.I.S.P. (Runners in Scoring Position) Blues.” [Read more →]

Barry Bonds: Nobody Does It Better

By Amaury Pi-Gonzalez

It was a warm night in San Francisco, something that will make Mark Twain

very itchy. . It was exactly at 9:25 PM PDT

when #25 came to the plate in the

bottom of the sixth inning against young

righthander Kip Wells. Bonds used his

maple bat…the count was 2 balls and

1 strike, then…. [Read more →]
