REMARKS: BONDS is the most
dominant player in the game.
Nobody is pitching to him, yet
he won another batting tittle
and passed 700 home runs.
He lifted a mediocre Giants
team into contention all season
long. He has put historic numbers
driving in 100 runs with less than
400 at bats, 130 hits and 45 are
home runs and then like 230
walks. If this guy isn’t one of
the greatest ever ?…and he
will still play 2 more years !

GUERRERO is the most
exciting player in the game
today. Old school, no batting
gloves, huge strides going
around the bases a great
throwing arm, he reminds
me a lot of #21 in Pitsburgh
Roberto Clemente, seems to
have even more tools than
Roberto -like more power.
I told Arturo Moreno,
owner of the Angels
early in April at SAFECO:
“whatever you paid for him,
he is worth every penny”.
Moreno and Vladi were seen
embracing and showering
in Champagne inside the
Oakland Coliseum visiting
dressing room Saturday
October 2 after beating
the A’S for the West title.

PUJOLS of the Cardinals
has to be the most frustrated
man in the world. Albert
Pujols seems to be destined
to finish second to Bonds
every year. Pujols had
an MVP season and so
did Adrian Beltré, but Bonds
had an ever better one.
Barry Bonds numbers are
not “normal”.If you take
Pujols out of the Cardinals
they still have enough
hitters to win it, but if
you took Bonds out of
the Giants lineup ?
How does 3rd place 10
games out sounds…

ICHIRO Susuki made
singles “cool again”in
an era where infielders
regularly hit 20 to 50
home runs per season.
A lead-off hitter than
broke an 84 year old
record(George Sisler’s
257 hits in 1920)and
finished the 2004
season with 262 hits.
Ichiro played in 161
games(rested one day
after a beaning-hospital-
observation) and in
all 161 games finished
with 262 hits. Today
in Seattle #51 is the
hottest item. Ironically
the great Japanese player
who will also win another
batting title and another
Gold Glove this season
wears the same number
as that left hander,
Randy Johnson once
a Seattle Mariner.
Ichiro (The Little Unit)has
made fans in the
Pacific Northwest
forget about the other
#51 that once played
in Seattle, The Big Unit.

JOHAN(Oye Como Va)
Santana is the pitcher
of the year and it
makes it official:
The Twins not the
Athletics are the real
MONEYBALLL team. Look
at the Twins payroll,
(you couldn’t buy a
house in Saratoga)
look who they lost
in the last two seasons:
A.J. Pyerzinsky,Eddie
Guardado,Latroy Hawkins,
Doug Mankiewictz but
they just keep rolling
along wining over 90
games and their third
Divisional Title. Because
the Twins are in a very
small baseball market
people don’t even know
who their GM is, yet
everybody knows
Billy Beane.
By the way his
name is Terry Ryan
VP/General Manager
of the Minnesota Twins,
but nobody has written
a book on him. The Twins
do have indeed one(if not
the best)farm system in
baseball.The Twins cannot
sign free agents(cannot
afford them)so they have
to develop from the
minors.

BEST JOB OF MANAGING:
Without a doubt, none
whatsoever ! Bobby Cox
of the Atlanta Braves, he
guided his Braves to an
unprecedented 13th
consecutive divisional
title. Not a real great
season for their most
talented player Larry
(Chipper)Jones or
centerfielder Andrew
Jones, yet he got to
the 2,000 victory of his
career. A real Hall of
Fame manager.
A strong second to
Giants Felipe Alou,
this man had to really
manage this season,
no ‘automatic pilot’
with this bunch of
players in S.F. and
he had to do it with
his home in Florida
under attack
4 Hurricanes !
You think Felipe is
going to rest this
winter ?
(Wake me up in Febrero)

MOST INSPIRATIONAL
PLAYER: (Retired in Seattle)
After 18 seasons
with the Mariners.
Edgar Martínez
has played last 5 years
with more broken pieces
than Evil Knievel.
Yet the Mariner finished
with the best stats for
any DH in history.
Edgar (Papi) finished
his career with such
great stats that on
Edgar Martínez Day
Saurday October 2nd
at SAFECO Commissioner
Bud Selig made a visit and
announced that with the
2005 season there will
be a new MLB Award,
it will be named the
Edgar Martínez Designated
Hitter Award and will be
given to be best DH each
season starting 2005.
In the history of pro sports
in the Emerald City, nobody
has been more popular
than the great Puertorican
player #11.

LOST CITY:
Montreal lost the Expos
and they are going to
Washington, D.C.and
people in D.C are
already complaining
that they will have to
pay more taxes to
built/pay for the
new stadium.
Taxes in D.C.? Yes,
that is were Taxes were
invented.
Next season
and until they build
a new place in D.C.
the Washington____?
will play in RFK Stadium.
My suggestion for
the name:
The Washington
Taxes.

THE BIGGEST WINNER ?
Major League Baseball
near record attendance
with over 72 million fans
visiting all parks in
both leagues. There is
no doubt the National
Passtime is back !

Adios !

Vlad proved he was the MVP in the last week. Barry ironically didn’t have a good last week, but had an amazing season.

Can’t argue with any of the picks. Manny Ramirez would also be a good MVP pick.
