A's Keep Rolling, Astros Show Power

The A’s and the Giants both won last night. Seattle has seen what the A’s can do, Jamie Moyer looked completely overmatched against the A’s power.

Barry Zito wasn’t on top of his game, but it was plenty good enough to silence the Mariner bats.

The Giants now get into the back end of their rotation, Damian Moss continued his inconsistent pitching. Tim Worrell is starting to look like his brother Todd and is the number one closer for the Giants until further notice.

Today’s games will be closer.Joel Pineiro is the toughest pitcher on the Seattle staff. He throws a decent curve ball and an above average fastball.

The weather is cold and raw this morning in Oakland which suggests a low scoring game.

Mark Mulder makes his first start today and probably will need bull pen help by the sixth inning. Mulder doesn’t throw with the speed he once did, his breaking stuff may be more to Seattle’s liking. Mulder is more of a touch pitcher and they always make me nervous in cold weather.

Kevin Brown answered questions last night against Arizona. One week doesn’t make a season as the fans have often pointed out, but it is heartening to the Dodger cause to see their best pitcher throw so well in his first start.

Boston can hit, there is no doubt about it. Their second line pitching is suspect once again and until it really straightens out, if it ever will, they will be a distant second to the Yankees.

Tampa Bay is picking up everyone in sight. Now Damion Easley is a Devil Ray, wait until Lou Piniella gets one look at the way he runs the bases, Easley may be the worst base runner in baseball. Al Levine is now in their minors so watch for his return to the big leagues momentarily. Can Joey Hamilton be far behind?

Houston didn’t quit against the Rockies. Why did Jimenez stay in to the bitter end for Colorado while it was obvious he didn’t have it? Clint Hurdle got a long term deal to manage Colorado and I just don’t see it.

Phillies are hitting and the Mets got the game they needed from Al Leiter, a real pro.

Texas starters have to go deeper into the game if possible. It’s tough to come back from 5-0 every night.

Three games hardly make a season, but some things look the same.

Minnesota, Oakland, and New york need to stay healthy and we’ll see them in October.

Early game today, see you at the park or listen to the show right here at 11:20 AM Pacific.
