Yanks play the Red Sox on Patriot’s Day capping off a wild four game series with their chief rivals.Pedro Martinez didn’t have his best stuff early in the game on Saturday. This tells me he is still searching for his lost control. Pedro’s command used to be so good, that even if he missed, it wasn’t by much. He has yet to hit those spots consistently in 2002.

Mike Mussina loves to pitch in Fenway. Today Andy Pettitte goes against Derek Lowe. Pettitte is another lefty who has a lot of success in the park where the green monster has ruined many left handed pichers. If you keep the ball away from the righthanded hitters, then the rest of the park plays fair.

Pettitte knows how to do it.

Derek Lowe is a tough competitor. He throws sinkers. Ground balls don’t leave the park. I like the way he pitches.

The Yankees need to blame this little tailspin of the last few days on someone and it looks like it will be Shane Spencer. Look for John Vanderwal to start splitting time in right with Spencer.

Neither the Braves nor the Mets can score many runs nor hit for much of an average. Shawn Estes versus Damian Moss will be a low scoring game.

Andruw Jones hasn’t hit for over a year now. isn’t it time Bobby Cox moved him out of the two spot in the batting order?

The Mets bullpen is a lot stronger than the Braves. Edge to the Mets today.

Kerry Wood brings his 98 MPH fast ball to Montreal tonight. Again, the Cubs just can’t get any offense. Moises Alou is back and gets a tough customer in Carl Pavano. Pavano who was brought to Montreal for Pedro a few years back, has battled through arm injuries and appears to be ready to step up big time.

Wood has never won in Montreal, but the crowd shouldn’t bother him as no one will be there. Expos can score, Cubs can’t. Wood better throw a one or two run game or it’s trouble for the Bruins.

Ryan Jensen versus Bobby Jones. There was a time when Jones, a Fresno native, would beat the Giants easily. The Giants have pounded him lately. Barry Bonds (hamstring) will play even if they have to wheel him to the plate. He crushes the ball in this park. Jensen who is in fierce competition with Kurt Ainsworth for the fifth starters spot, once Jason Schmidt comes back on April 23rd, is pitching super. He oughta stay and Ainsworth head back to AAA.

Both will be stars soon.

Dave Burba tries to tame the Mariners. Can’t anyone beat this club? The Mariners are hitting about .380 from the seventh inning on, no wonder they came back and erased a 5-1 seventh inning deficit against the Rangers.

Seattle simply creamed Burba last year and is 7-1 versus right handed starters this year. James Baldwin has pitched well, but is due to get lit up very soon. He ain’t that good.

Lou Piniella needs another lefty for the pen. Arthur Rhodes is up entirely too much early in the season. This will start to show soon. Watch for more Joel Piniero in two inning relief situations. Forget the righty- lefty stuff with Piniero, he gets everybody out.

Andy Benes versus Rick Helling. Both of these pitchers are no where near where they once were. The Cardinals look a little better than the DBacks right now. This will definitely be a game of bull pens tonight. Knowing that, why did Jason Isringhausen pitch yesterday in a non save situation, when working back to back days has never been his forte?
